I don't know
Maybe because I've never been in a hateful relationship. Maybe because I've never felt THAT much anger that it would make me want to punch the person I love. Maybe, just maybe, I really do have respect for the person I would call my girlfriend or wife.

I am watching probably one of the best comedies on TV, COPS, and they're called out to a domestic disturbance. The police officer gets the guy to put his hands on the hood of the car for safety or whatever and asks him what's going on when the guy's "old lady" comes over and slaps him and curses at him. So the cop detains her. The cop asks her if this is the first time he has beaten her and she says no, at the same time she's yelling and cursing that her husband is the devil and so forth. The cop asks if she wants to press charges. And here's the best part. She says no, calms down right away and says no. The cop says, "Why are you still with him."

"Because I love him." And she's totally calm when she says that. And then goes on to say, "He pays my bills."

I don't know about you, but that's fucking funny. Why would anyone want to be in a relationship that's anything BUT love?
